Gary Vann, Ph.D. , is Founder and President of the Center for Wellness & Relationships, a Traverse City,  Michigan based clinical psychology practice.  The family system is the focus of the practice which is based on over 35 years of family practice.  At the heart of the CWR philosophy is a family psychology and systems approach that targets the individual to achieve his/her potential through some of the most sophisticated psychology  technology that is available.  Dr. Vann has spared no cost in learning and integrating these technologies both pre and post doctorally into his practice regardless of the setting.  His experience includes:  child guidance, K-12 special education, university teaching, child and adult corrections, state psychiatric hospital, addictions, community mental health, employee assistance programs, human resource consulting and private family practice.

At The Center for Wellness and Relationships, examples of treatment include:  pre-marital and marital psychotherapy, child/teen and adult psychotherapy, divorce prevention and adjustment psychotherapy.

Dr. Vann received his undergraduate Sociology and Business Administration training at Illinois State University in Bloomington and his Masters in Clinical Social Work at the University of Illinois – Chicago and Urbana.  His doctorate is in Clinical Psychology from the Union Institute in Cincinnati and his internship was with the Michigan Dept. of Health.  His post-doctoral training has specialized in human resource and organization development.  He is a Principal and manager of the northern Michigan office of The Global Consulting Partnership, an international HR/OD firm located in Philadelphia.  He is a member of the American Psychological Association, a licensed psychologist and resides with his family in northern Michigan.


Specific goals are to learn to :

  • Learn new methods of achieving and maintaining potential, self-esteem and happiness
  • Learn prevention skills to avoid and eliminate negative emotions/situations including but not limited to:

Addictions – alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, gambling, internet, etc.
